Our Story
Inspiration:
My only inspiration for deciding to create this brand was my twin boys. When I found out I was pregnant, my natural instinct was to craft something for them. Having been in the beauty industry for over 15 years, I immediately felt that I wanted to draw on that experience to bespoke a product I would want to use myself on my little ones.
What a special opportunity to develop a brand with my boys as they themselves develop. Our footprint forever, created together.
Key Ingredient:
With my experience, I know how important it is to have a key ingredient at the base of a brand. As I sat in this field, I saw a dandelion and remembered my Grandfather always contradicting anyone who said it was a weed. It is technically a flower but is referred to as a weed because gardeners don’t like the speed in which they spread, taking over a garden. ‘They wouldn’t say that if they knew all the benefits it holds’ he used to say. The cogs inside my brain began to tick… this could be it: An English flower containing healing properties that have been used for centuries especially focusing on the skin and eczema; A beautiful image of little girls playing in fields blowing the seeds from this traditional plant. What more could I possibly want to be at the base of my products? I was straight onto my amazing lab team within minutes, and within hours they were back to me saying that not only could they incorporate my dandelion, but could create a unique bespoke organic blend of ingredients that would be made especially for Baby Bare Bubbles. It was at this point that I knew there was no going back. I had created the roots in which this was going to grow into something that my babies could one day be proud of. I was over the moon.
Fragrance:
This was undoubtly the hardest part of creating the brand. I had budgeted so little time thinking it would be so easy and in reality, it took months. I was so specific about what I wanted… it needs to smell like spring, subtle, light refreshing, but most importantly it cannot mask in anyway the beautiful natural smell of babies. Well let’s just say that nothing was quite right until I found the smell for me that depicted spring. I was out with the boys and there it was, that was the smell. The only problem was I was in a country garden with vast amounts of plants but with a little patience, not something that I have an abundance of, I managed to pinpoint the ‘nectar’ and it was that of Freesia. There was only one place that was going to be able to perfect this for me and that is the home of perfume, Grasse in the South of France. So I worked with a gorgeous fragrance house to create the ideal fragrance, just as I had imagined in my head.
Design, Illustration and Packaging:
When it came time to design the look and feel of the brand I found myself leaning towards tradition. I had already picked an ingredient that is embedded in English tradition, during the day I am inspired whilst walking the boys through the English countryside. In the evenings, we curl up to read classics like Peter Rabbit. I wanted to incorporate all of this into the brand. The bottle I chose could have sat on the apothecary’s top shelf. I then found the perfect artist, who took my dreams and turned them into beautiful illustrations.
Products:
The months of researching ingredients, creating a fragrance, deciding on every aspect of the product with so many people working together to make these final two products almost seemed forgotten as the brown package arrived… this is it. It might all be over if this isn’t perfect… the nerves as I unsealed the envelope. Well, they look great, unscrewing of the lid, they smell amazing… now all they have to do is work. They did not disappoint. Night after night my boys played in the bubbles, giggled as I covered them in the cream. Just perfect, Fozzy’s dry skin cleared up, they smelt lovely and mainly because even after a soak and a smothering of cream they still smelt of them. Let’s just hope the world loves it too!
